Veteran’s Stories to be Recorded in Pulaski County

Jefferson City – State Representative David Day (R-Dixon) announced today that The Missouri Veteran Stories program will be in St. Robert on Wednesday, November 18th to record the history of some local veterans for the archives of Missouri.

“The video taping of our veteran’s stories is a program that I have fought for the funding of by the State of Missouri.  We have some of our nation’s greatest hero’s right here in our area, and I feel that their stories are ones that we must preserve for future generations.  History books can’t tell the stories like the men and women who lived that history, which is what this program is all about” said Day.

So far The Missouri Veterans Stories program has completed over 1,300 interviews.  These stories are available for viewing at the console in the State Capitol or online at www.missouriveteranstories.org.  The funding for this program is provided by the State of Missouri.

Details for the November 18th taping are:

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

American Legion Post 331

484 St. Roberts Outer Road

St. Robert, MO

Appointments must be made to participate in the program.  To make an appointment for the November 18th taping you can call 1-800-905-1536.  While all veterans are welcome to participate, preference will be given to WWII and Korean War veterans.  Veterans must also be residents of Missouri and have a Missouri address.  Because of the limited number of stories that can be recorded during the day, about 20 of them, reservations must be made.

“I hope veterans in our area will consider participating in this program, to share their stories with others for generations to come” concluded Rep. Day.
