Rep. Day’s Legislative Survey is Released

For the 2010 Legislative Session

Jefferson City – Once again State Representative David Day (R-Dixon) has released his annual legislative survey in preparation of the start of the 2010 Legislative Session which will begin at noon on January 6.  For the second year in a row the survey will be conducted online at www.StateRepDay.com.

“Last year was the first year that we conducted the legislative survey online, as a matter of fact it was the first of its kind in the history of the Missouri House of Representatives.  The response was actually higher than when we mailed the surveys to homes and it resulted in a savings of over $6,500 of taxpayer money.  This year the savings will actually be a little more to Missourians because of increased costs” said Day.  “I received many comments from individuals that said the online version was much easier for them to participate in and they appreciated the effort to save the dollars of working Missourians”.

In the past legislative surveys have been printed and mailed to households in the 148th District at the expense of taxpayers.  Seldom are more than 15% of the surveys returned, meaning almost 85% of the printing and postage is wasted.  When they are returned, it cost the taxpayer again in postage to send it back.  Often many of the surveys were never delivered because of inaccurate mailing addresses or people that have moved out of the area.

“I am releasing the survey a little earlier this year than in the past.  Work on legislation for the next session begins very early and having this information will be valuable as I work on legislation that is important to folks in the 148th District.  This survey will provide me the same important information as the printed version but at a substantial savings to taxpayers” concluded Day.

To participate, simply go to www.StateRepDay.com and you will find a link to the survey on the homepage.  There are safeguards in place that will help determine if the person taking the survey lives in the 148th District and it will allow only one survey per computer.  For those that wish to, you many also remain anonymous when submitting the survey.  A printed version of the survey can be requested by calling Rep. Day’s capitol office at (573) 751-1446.  If there is no answer, just leave your name and number, your call will be returned as soon as possible.  The survey will stay open until midnight on November 22, 2009.

Surveys will be totaled near the first of December and results will be sent to all local media, sent to Rep. Day’s distribution e-mail list, and will be available at www.StateRepDay.com.
