Rep. Day Named Chairman of State
Youth Government Day Committee
Jefferson City – Missouri American Legion Department Commander Charles W. Goodin of Jefferson City announced today that State Representative David Day (R-Dixon) has agreed to serve as Chairman of the American Legion of Missouri State Youth Government Day Committee. State Youth Government Day provides students from across Missouri with the opportunity to witness how their state government works.
“We are grateful to Representative Day for accepting the challenge of guiding the youth of Missouri into the future. As a Legionnaire and a state legislator of Missouri, David truly makes a difference” stated Commander Goodin.
“It is important that Missouri youth learn about how their government works because they are the future leaders of this state. How better to learn this than by coming to Jefferson City and watching their government in action,” said Rep. Day. He added, “I look forward to working with many of the youth in Missouri this coming session. As a state representative, I feel it is my duty to help educate young people on the legislative and governmental processes in our state.”
The American Legion of Missouri held the first State Youth Government program over 20 years ago as part of its Promoting Americanism Initiative. Americanism is one of the four pillars on which the American Legion was founded. The other pillars include veterans’ affairs, national security, and children and youth.
Rep. Day serves as Chairman of the Missouri House Veterans Committee and is a member of American Legion Post 298.
