Waynesville, MO – State Representative David Day (R-Dixon) presented medals from the State of Missouri to seven local veterans in recognition of their contributions to the nation. During a ceremony held at Waynesville City Hall on Oct. 27th, Rep. Day thanked each of the veterans as he presented them with various medals on behalf of the state along with one of the Representative Day’s coins. Marge Scott of Waynesville was responsible for coordinating the ceremony and helped most of the veterans and their families with the necessary paperwork to receive the medals.
“As Chairman of the House Veteran’s Committee, I have the honor to work with veterans on a regular basis and I can tell you, I never cease to be amazed by the dedication and willingness to serve by our nation’s veterans. There is no way we as citizens can ever thank our nation’s heroes enough, but we should never stop trying to. These medals are a small token of our appreciation for all that you have done for our nation, we are a grateful nation to you and all others that have served with honor as you have” said Day.
Those honored were: Edgar Irizzarry for his service in the Vietnam War, Paul W. Fowler (posthumously) for his service in WWII, Jerry Packer for his service in the Vietnam War, Delmar R. Wall (posthumously) for his service in WWII, Lloyd L. Bryant (posthumously) for his service in the Korean and Vietnam Wars, Howard W. Reynolds for his service in the Korean and Vietnam Wars, and Morgan Lierd for his service in the Vietnam War.
“I know our communities join me in saying thank you to these wonderful Americans. These men and women are examples of what has made our nation the great one it is. As has been said many times, freedom is not free, and these veterans were willing to sacrifice everything to protect the freedoms we all enjoy. God Bless all of our nation’s veterans” concluded Day.
