Rep. Day Presents Dixon Students

With Glory of Missouri Awards

Jefferson City – Fourteen members of the Eighth Grade Class from the Dixon School District were on hand at the State Capitol on Friday, April 30th, to be honored for their outstanding qualities displayed both in school and in their communities. The students were presented with the Glory of Missouri Awards by Rep. David Day, R-Dixon, in the Thomas Hart Benton Room, also known as the Old House Lounge.

The Glory of Missouri Award Program is designed to recognize fourteen students per school. Each student honored represents one of the virtues engraved on the walls of the House Chamber. The virtues include knowledge, liberty, equity, law, justice, fraternity, education, progress, honor, truth, virtue, temperance, enterprise and charity.  The selection process is left up to the individual school.

“The outstanding students we have in our area should not go overlooked or unrecognized,” said Rep. Day. “So many young people are making valuable contributions to their schools and communities and sadly, that news is not always told.  They deserve our respect and admiration and that is why it is an honor to present these awards, the Glory Awards, to these outstanding students.”

Students are nominated for the honor by faculty and staff at their school. Each student was presented with a House Courtesy Resolution which is a formal document designed to recognize an outstanding person or achievement.  This award program is available by Rep. Day to all schools in the 148th District.

Receiving the awards were:  Taylor Martin – Knowledge; Wyatt Shelton – Law; Larson Scullion – Justice; Lane Morrison – Fraternity; Makayla Jones – Honor; Connor Catron – Truth; Nicholle Lenzmeier – Virtue; Laura-Beth Reznicek – Temperance; Taylor Strickland – Enterprise; Bianca Reynolds – Charity; Abigail Reznicek – Liberty; Maci Ray – Equality; Mattie Whitaker – Education; and Harley Jensen – Progress.
