Dear Editor,
I recently attended a rally at our State Capitol for our Veterans and Troops. Rep. David Day was a speaker and I was so impressed by his words. Although I’m not from this area, I wanted to express my appreciation to the people of the 148th legislative district for electing someone who understands the importance of today’s military personnel.
I am a mother of two active military and mother-in-law of one. All have recently served in Middle East fighting for our freedom. My youngest daughter, a Navy Corpsman, will leave in June for Anbar Province, Iraq. She is stationed with the Marines and is assigned to a ‘CASEVAC’ helicopter which goes into the “hot zones.” These zones are the areas experiencing the highest amount of violence and therefore considered the most dangerous.
As a mother, I of course worry about my children choosing to join the military, however my pride is deep and I give thanks to all our military and their Commander-in-Chief for the freedoms I enjoy. Individuals such as Rep. Day lessen my worries, as I believe they show true support for our military. I believe Rep. Day respects and honors our heroes PAST AND PRESENT! I hope you do as well.
Sincerely,
Diane Lindsay
